After what felt like the world’s longest Winter, Spring has finally arrived. Not that Spring’s bounty comes all at once. One day it’s gorgeous and sunny, the next it’s 2 degrees and pouring rain!! Nevertheless, this month I wanted to write about some of my Spring favourites! During the Winter I tend to feel quite washed out but as soon as Spring comes I feel like a caterpillar emerging from its cocoon as a butterfly. I don’t know if it is the brighter weather, the longer days or some Spring favourites that I use – most likely a combination of all three!  I wanted to share with you my top products that can hopefully have you feeling like a Spring butterfly too.

To start off with skincare; my top product for more radiant and dewy skin would be a good cleanser to cleanse every morning and evening. I have been using the MyClarins Re-Move Purifying Cleanser and I find it brilliant. My skin can flare up when I use new products but this cleanser acts gently yet efficiently to remove makeup impurities. It is suitable for all skin types and is a gel cleanser to be applied on wet skin and then washed off. Its icy blue texture suits even the most sensitive skin and reduces the drying effect of hard water. My skin feels clean, purified and balanced after each use.

After cleansing, I apply a moisturiser. At the moment, I am using the La Roche Posay Anti-Redness Moisturiser. I have suffered from Rosacea over the last few years due to a combination of genetics and sun exposure. I find this product great for calming and soothing my skin. It contains Vitamins CG and B3 to help diffuse the onset of redness as well as thermal water to soothe.

In the morning, using SPF is essential under your moisturiser. Although it may seem grey and dull outside, the UVA and UVB rays are threatening our skin through the clouds. Excess sun exposure without proper protection leads to premature skin aging and this is a well-documented fact. If you talk to any older women they will inform you that the best tip to maintaining youthful looking skin is by prevention! One of my staple daily SPF’s is the Avene Sun Cleanance High Protection. I love the Avene products as they are suitable for even the most sensitive skin and they aren’t heavily perfumed. This particular cream is non-greasy and non-irritant so it is ideal for oily and blemish-prone skin. It also contains the antioxidant Pre-Tocopheryl which forms a barrier against damaging free radicals. The brand’s own Thermal Spring Water soothes the skin while absorbing excess oil and regulating sebum levels to combat blemishes and breakouts. Your skin should feel clear, healthy and protected after use.

There is nothing I love more than having an even and natural-looking tan! I am loving the new  Bare by Vogue range. Last week I tried the Bare by Vogue Mousse in Dark. It can be used on the face and body. It’s also enriched with a trio of super peptides and oatmeal extracts to help lock in moisture. It has a lovely pineapple fragrance to it and creates a beautiful glow perfect for Springtime.

Along with my staple products, I am trying to create some healthy Springtime habits. Rather than one large drastic change to your lifestyle, why not try a few simple small changes that you will be more likely to stick to and benefit from? Join me in trying my top three changes this Spring:

  1. Walk to college / work instead of taking public transport or the car every Friday, or get off a stop or two early and walk the rest of the way.
  2. Start a gratitude journal. Every Sunday I am dedicating 15 minutes to jot down what I am grateful for and all the wonderful things that made me smile from the previous week.
  3. Ease yourself into getting more sleep with five-minute increments. Completely abandoning your to-do list, whether it’s business or personal, or going to bed 3 hours earlier just isn’t feasible. But if you do it a small bit at a time, you’ll acclimate yourself to your new, well-rested reality in a manageable way. Try going to bed five minutes earlier each night (or every few nights, if this is really tough for you) until you hit the seven to nine hours. I cannot highlight enough the importance of sleep!
