The Body Shop…the sweetest smelling trip down memory lane

The Body Shop Logo

For a lot of women, The Body Shop will conjure up nostalgia of trips to Dublin and coming home with delicious lip balms and fruity fragrances.  Dewberry &  White Musk perfumes, kiwi & orange lip balms…it’s like taking a trip down a perfumed memory lane.

The Body Shop was founded in 1976 by Anita Roddick, and was built around five core values:  Support Community Fair Trade, Defend Human Rights, Against Animal Testing, Activate Self-Esteem, and Protect Our Planet – and in 1990 The Body Shop Charitable Foundation was launched, with The Big Issue beginning life as one of it’s first projects.

From it’s beginnings in Brighton, The Body Shop has grown worldwide to a huge range of products, encompassing skincare, fragrance, makeup and accessories –  still based around those original core values.  None of their products are tested on animals, ingredients are sourced via community fair trade.

Some of the bestselling The Body Shop items in our stores still include the old favourites, with White Musk EDP and their range of bodybutters being some of our top sellers.

So for a trip down memory lane, we asked some of our customers to let us know their all time favourite The Body Shop products:

Body Shop Coconut Oil Hair Shine

Coconut Oil Hair Shine - Then & Now

Coconut Oil Hair Shine – Then & Now

I have loved this product for years! It makes my hair look shiny and healthy. So easy to use, just rub a small amount onto your fingertips and smooth through your hair. It tames those annoying fly away bits and when I curl my hair it gives it that extra glossy look. A small amount goes a long way so one tin lasts for ages. The tin is not too big so it’s very handy when travelling. Cannot live without it!

Body Shop Peppermint Foot Lotion

It gives you that refreshing feeling that you get when you’ve just put your feet in the ocean….so cooling, especially great for this weather. I first start using this product when I was pregnant with my first child and it really helped with my swollen ankles. It makes your skin really soft too…

Body Shop Shea Edt Spray

The Body Shop Shea EDT

The Body Shop Shea Eau de Toilette

They say fragrance always invokes a memory and this proved correct when I recently caught a whiff of someone wearing Body Shop White Musk which brought me right back to my late teens/early twenties.  I’ve recently been re-introduced to the brand and found my love of their products resurfacing.  While White Musk is still one of their best selling products they have now introduced a whole range of 30ml edt’s with totally different and delicious scents.  One of my favourites is Shea edt spray which quite simply has a beautifully clean smell and great for these hot summer days.  At only €13.95 it’s also my wallets friend….

Want to win your all time favourite The Body Shop item!?!  We will give one lucky winner The Body Shop product that they love the most – and two runners up will get a bottle of the limited edition Vineyard Peach Shower Gel.  Just enter your details below and let us know which product you’d like to win!

I had forgotten about Body Shop Coconut Oil Hair Shine, not having used it for probably a couple of decades. Then the image of the red tin popped into my head a couple of months ago, and today I finally located a picture on your page. So I see they still sell it, just not in the funky red tin. I’ll probably go and buy some, but I know already I won’t bond with it like I did with the red tin! In any case, very glad to have tracked it down…thanks to you and your site!!
