BB Cream burst onto the European market back in late 2011, having being huge in Asia for almost a decade. It originated in Germany in the 1960s, where it was formulated by a dermatologist to treat her patients after surgery. The cream then became hugely popular in the 1980’s in Asia where porcelain skin is much sought after.
BB stands for Blemish Balm, or Beauty Balm and the multitasking magic of BB Cream is that you can wear it alone for a light finish, give your skin a healthy glow, correct uneven skin tone or you can use it under foundation as a primer.
The latest cosmetic house to jump on the BB band wagon is Clarins, who this week have released BB Skin Perfecting Cream, which aims to even skin tone, boost radiance and offer triple protection against pollution, free radicals and the harmful effects of the sun.
Available in 3 shades, light, medium and dark, this tinted cream delivers just the right amount of colour and blends instantly to the skin – creating an even skin tone without looking like you’re wearing make up.
To boost radiance, extract of organic kiwi (known for its anti-fatigue and antioxidant properties), has been included to help stimulate skin cells, also added is Katafray extract, which is one of the key ingredients Clarins uses in its HydraQuench range. Katafray helps to boost the skins natural hydration process and reinforce the skins barrier effect.
To help protect skin, Clarins have used their decades of skincare expertise and knowledge, and included Anti Pollution Complex, which is an SPF 25 (UVB Protection) and a PA+++ which helps protect against UVA rays which can cause slackened skin tissues, loss of skin firmness and the appearance of wrinkles.
Clarins BB Skin Perfecting Cream is available at Sam McCauley Chemists nationwide, or you can buy online at www.sammccauley.com €33.50
